I haven't been to the movies much lately but my general feeling is that they are running out of ideas. Fortunately a new crop of directors is just around the corner.

I disagreed,.........A LOT,....but many valid points were made and I enjoyed the perspective. (Waaaay off base concerning V For Vendetta,....in my opinion.)

I disagree with the Kill Bill placement, it's not supposed to be pro-woman, it's about revenge which is gender-blind. I think both are beautiful movies with a lot more going for them than consideration for the feminist movement.

Is there another page to that site because I didn't see an overrated/underrated list. I saw:
"Films of the Past Decade that I’m Not Supposed to Admit to Liking But Do"
and...
"Films I’m Either Supposed to Like but Don’t; or Were Already Bad to Start With"the movies that could fall into either of these categories could fall under the category of overrated or underrated. LOTR for example on the first list was definitely not underrated by any stretch of the marketing imagination but I could see how some people based on the hype might go in expecting to hate it and end up liking it and vice versa.
I would think overrated would be films that many people including critics enjoyed but others might find such praise overblown like I did with Oscar-winning "A Beautiful Mind" whereas an underrated film might be a film dismissed with mediocre ratings and/or ignored by the general public but deserving of more attention and praise. Cast Away and LOTR certainly don't fill that bill.

Apocalypto was great, I really don't understand the hate behind that movie.
Hulk(the 2003 one) never seen it, couldn't get pass the boring first few minutes
Be Kind Rewind was overrated? Maybe by the Indie crowd, I loved it, maybe because mos was in it.

Where do I start? City of God is an amazing film that takes you into a world most of us will never see. I guess he didn't understand the irony that this film is shot like a fast pace gangster film because it is full of kids and wants you to see the tragedy of it all. Man on Fire is also a pretty good in my book and good for a tony scott film. He says it makes mexico look bad but sadly these days that film reigns more true than ever and it's a decent film on revenge and redemption. How do you also hate Motorcycle Diaries? It's a great road film that shows us how an argentinian med school student becomes Che and the state of south america in that era. I think this guy is a little too sensative to central and south american based films. I will agree however that Watchmen was overated garbage as well as transformers but those are obvious.

The Hulk, the 2003 version, was awful. It ruins the list. I didn't think Watchmen was all that great, but it was by far better than The Hulk.
I don't see how you could say Lord of the Rings was "underrated." It got Oscar attention...
Most of the underrated movies listed were mediocre/not bad.
The overrated list is better. - 2 years ago
