DEXTER SHOCKING FINALE!

What a shocking and atypical ending.
It left all of us speechless.
I can't recall any tv show breaking such standard writing format.

What do you think it really happened?
Did Rita really die (dream scene)?

Was it a suicide?
Highly improbable.

In this interview they admit it was murder by Trinity but are they allowed to spoil what is about to come?

What was Trinity really saying to Dexter right before getting hammered?

Will Dexter lose its audience now that he is faulty of Rita's death?
How will he conquer us back?


This is an unforgivable mistake, he could have prevented it.
There is no going back.


There is one thing that didn't make sense to me:
Why would Dexter get the message from Rita only many hours later, after coming back home?
Doesn't he always have his cell phone on and always checks when it beeps?

    • I would agree that this scene all hit us by surprise and I hate it when seasons end on cliffhangers. But this event opens a new window for many new opportunities so I'm very interested what they can do with this.

    • Dexter consistently throughout all four seasons checks his cell phone.
      He checks it while he is murdering somebody, while he is crazy driving and so on.
      His cell phone only gets this message a few minutes later he gets home.
      Bad signal reception for many hours?
      Hard to believe.
      Was this written this way to have a convenient twist at the end?
      Big mistake then, very incoherent writing.

      If not, they'd better make it a DREAM Scene.
      In season five he will wake up terrorized while his cell phone his ringing and a new journey of self struggle will start. He wants to change and drop the dark passenger.

      From a writing point of view they need Rita.
      Rita discovering slowly who Dexter really is, creating tension, suspense, no matter how much people consider her annoying, you can't drop this character.
