best movie you will ever get to see pple. during the epic battle in the end we all are desperately hoping that the navi army will win, ironic considering that we are humans. i wish we had loved our own planet so much!!! cameron is a legend.

Duh, the originality doesn't necessarily lie in the story, but in the presentation and the story-telling. Very few movies come out these days that are well-thought-out entirely through. AVATAR was GREAT simply because it focused on characters and story telling and took its time telling that story. That's all a good movie needs. And obviously, the numbers don't lie, so maybe YOU are the unoriginal one haters ;)

Yeah he is obviously pissed. I said he was wrong then and the numbers just keep hammering it home. Its funny too b/c in addition to its incredible financial success, Avatar is at 83% on rottentomatoes, which means it has crushed Jaysin’s New Moon comparison in all aspects.

Well, the only thing I can think of that costs one billion dollars (or more) would be war, so sure, I would think a profit HAS been made for this movie's makers. [Of course, I think there are profiteers in war, too.]

Does that "4th highest grossing film of all time" figure take inflation into account?
So this film already surpassed The Dark Knight?

I really enjoyed this movie. I got to see it in 3D and it's not often I give a movie rave reviews... but this one deserves it. Excellent picture.

If you're into the ideas the film portrays please read the book "Ishmael" by Daniel Quinn.

those numbers will keep rising for sure.
honestly when i first heard how much money it took to make this movie, i predicted a flop in earnings. i was wrong WAY WRONG. i actually realized this after seeing the last trailer of it before it came out. and then i saw it and was like "o yea, shake that money maker" - 2 years ago
