So says the one-two combo of Nikki Finke and recent Variety transplant Michael Flemming.

According to a source of Finke’s, director Sam Raimi finally pulled out after being unable to come to terms with the scripts coming his way for the fourth film. This comes after John Malkovich revealed he is attached–er, was attached–to be The Vulture.

    • this is a good thing they need to go back to the drawing board with this franchise the reason the first one set the standard at the time was because it had heart it lost its heart somewhere by the third film. I would have loved to have seen Jon Malkovich play the vulture, though, but theres no doubt in my mind that it would have killed what ever life there was left after that awful spidey samba dance thing in three-foreshadowing the musical? the way everyones riding spidey like a cheap asian whoer i wanna do something but i dont wana have to take him down to the free clinic it wouldnt even be worth the vacant stare/pseudo reaction of toby maguire hearing the results, but i digress Hollywoods basturdised version of spiderman needs to be taken out to the barn and put out of its misery. toby maguire? really man? kirsten dunst? really? mjs supost to be hot. what is kirsten dunst's appeal anyway i think of her when i need to lose a hard on quickly-she's hard off- the only time she has ever been worth looking at on screen was when she was a pre-teen. really hollywood thats the best you can do? your killing me man. venom sucked thats a big ball to drop. Topher Grace? why? Who thought that was a good idea? come on.I think it may just be to far gone at this point. and it really pisses me off cause they already have the damn story boards you jerks the way hollywood has been passing around Stans Lees intellectual property and having their way with it makes me sick, its inhuman, for what? a lousey camio? shameless...that said spidey may not be dead just yet, if the franchise has any legs left they stand on the shoulders of the villians. hollywood owes it to the creative conscience to fix what they did to venom. spidey v.s. venom should be epic it is epec figure out why and you may have a movio throw in mysterio, the lizard, and the vulture if you have to and now we're talking

    • If Sam Raimi didnt like the scripts its probably best if they never leave the trash bin. He seems to be a rather flexible and madcap guy. If these scripts were to camp for him, well……
(but perhaps he had his heart set on a MARVEL Zombies/Spiderman extravaganza)

    • FINALLY. Sure they may be blockbusters, but after the first movie the subsequent sequels went downhill. I seriously couldn't sit through the latest flick because it was so bad. Plus the fact that James Franco may not be returning... D:

    • That sucks... how can they just allo Raimi to make such awesome movies, and then try to "control" it after three successful blockbusters!!?? These execs keep ruining the superhero franchise....
