At its’ most basic description, Enter the Void is an adaptation of the Tibetan Book of the Dead. But if you want to get more complex, you’ll have to start at the end–or was that the beginning? Does it even matter in Gaspar Noé’s world?
Of course it does(n’t).
Oscar (Nathaniel Brown ) and his sister Linda (Paz de la Huerta) live in Tokyo, high atop the glowing streets, but not high enough for him to gaze up and wonder outloud, “What do you think Tokyo looks like? From up there?” In a thin slip, Linda looks directly into the blinking eyes of her brother: “I would be too afraid.”
“Of what,” he asks.
“Of death. Of falling into the void.”
