The Internet is a horrible place that is filled with all sorts of nasty things like pornography, flash games and the occasional scammer. Over the last few years, as Facebook and Twitter have emerged into the public along with fake accounts, the possibility for having actual fiction take over has become all too probable.
Which is why Catfish is such an engrossing documentary; it focuses–painfully and literally so–on what happens when we become immersed in the alluring possibilities that social networking offers us. Not to mention, the basis lies firmly in ego, vanity and self-satisfaction.
