Are you having a problem figuring out what "traditional family values are?" Well, apparently, so is the representative who changed the verbage. What he came up with is quite disturbing, and involves Mayburry...I know!
See why incentives in Florida have taken a giant step backwards by clicking here:

    • i was born and raised in miami, i went to college in the mid west, and rushed on the next flight back to civilization (back to FL). Reading stuff like this makes me sad to share the beautiful, culturally integrated metropolitan area i live in with the toothleth hicks 150 miles north of me.

    • audi, as someone who has lived in the Bay area all my life, I would agree, completely. It seems like the entire state longs for the good ol' days, and tries to force that on everyone else.

    • First off I was born and partially raised in Tampa, FL

Lets be real for the exception of some awesome beaches, Florida is the cousin of Alabama, and Nephew of Mississippi as far as pushing these "traditional values" on its citizens. They'd rather live 50 years in the past an minimize all progressive thoughts in an effort to preserve "the good old days"

    • I actually covered this last week over at ShockNet Radio with my co-host. It's sad when people use idealized images to define the past, but it's disgusting when those people then are in positions of power and they codify that fantasy through government. Reality in that part of the state was more like "Deliverance" and LESS like "Mayberry RFD".

    • When I lived in FL I was less than a mile from where they filmed the salon scene in Edward Scissorhands...tell me that's not family friendly!

Personally, I'd hate to film in Florida...it's just too muggy. Although, I did laugh at the interracial comment because the south is such a melting pot of cultures.

    • This is just stupid. Get with the times Mr. Representative. Movies have already gone insanely downhill. I can't imagine what crap is gonna come outta Florida now. This is, in a way, an insult to the moviegoer's intelligence. Why doesn't he just limit it to a certain age range and be done with it....?

    • This is ridiculous.

"Traditional" values have changed throughout the course of human history. The government can use the ambiguity of the word "traditional" as loopholes to prevent shows or movies THEY don't want to see from getting local or national attention. The typical family, in this day and age, is no longer the father, mother, two children and dog, therefore it is necessary to clearly define the boundaries of a typical "family friendly" movie.
