The spirit of the new 3D version of “Clash of the Titans” lies somewhere between the muscular brio of “Gladiator” and the grande fromage of earlier film attempts at faux classical mythology. Keeping things loud, fast and busy seems to be the tactic of director Louis Leterrier (“The Incredible Hulk,” “Transporter 2”), and it serves this material well.
Dialogue is spare and to the point, with just an occasional bit of heated jawboning between Zeus (Liam Neeson) and bad boy brother Hades (Ralph Fiennes). There are the requisite humongous scorpions; a creamy complexioned, semi-immortal love interest (Gemma Arterton); Pegasus, the flying stallion; and a rather foxy Medusa, who seemed to be sporting a thong on her reptilian hind parts, if I’m not mistaken.
Front and center though, carrying the torch for Team Mankind -- though he’s technically a demigod -- is Perseus (Sam Worthington). Hunky, proud and working his brooding, downcast gaze for all it’s worth, he’s a prodigal son with a daunting mission.

I hate to spoil the hype but I just saw it last night and it was REALLY disappointing.

Sounds good. Going. My inner 13 year old deserves an outing.
