Says Yahoo Brazil that the event would be a partnership between the company Groove Concept and advertising guru Eduardo Fischer.
Even if the businessman and his company have released notes stating that all news so far is pure speculation, he has written on his twitter account: "In 29 days we'll be able to talk about a big sustainability even that will need your participation. #WOODSTOCK AND YOU HELPING THE PLANET".
Yahoo Brazil goes on to say that the festival's creator, Michael Lang, has authorized the organization of the event, and that it would take place on October 07-09 in a ranch called Maeda, information that also confirms a2media.
Both say that bands could include Green Day, Linkin Park, Foo Fighters, Smashing Pumpkins, Rage Against The Machine, Pearl Jam and Bob Dylan, although Fischer has made clear that nothing is official yet. However, the a2media blog noted that Pearl Jam could be giving some clues about their participation in Woodstock Brazil through their website.
There's also an event site at last.fm.
What do you think? Is this happening? If so, we cannot wait! We'll keep you posted.

I was really excited to go to the next Woodstock, if it ever happened, but if it is in Brazil I might have to give it a pass. I guess I could understand why they would not do it in the states after last time.

So this will be what Bonnaroo has turned into, a once great festival turned to filth by corporate sponsorship and terrible bands. Don't be surprised when Kanye West is added to the line up. If they can let him play his pore excuse for music at Bonnaroo why not here too, he's not much better than Green Day or Linkin Park.
I'm gonna go ahead and assume that this thing is gonna be televised all over mtv and vh1. But part of what Woodstock was all about was connecting with the energy of the music, all the other people there, and the dirt that covered your whole body. It is impossible to experience any of that by laying on a couch eating junk food and staring at a TV.
If they don't carry on the essence of Woodstock they shouldn't carry on its name. The REAL Woodstock lives on in the dirt and mud of local grassroots festivals across the world, not this sacrilegious crap.

Pretty crappy lineup, all irrelevant washedups, except one, and ironically it's Dylan, I'll give Pearl Jam a pass too. Isn't this the reason Woodstock 1999 was so bad? Because it was completely the opposite of what the originals were about? Good music by talented musicians, and music about peace?
Isn't Linkin Park all depressing teen angst songs? And RAtM All "Fight the authority, with for, yelling!". And Greenday is just meh...
There are way better bands out there, bands that can even match the lineups of the past. And why Brazil? Why not somewhere in the states, you know... that's cheaper?

Let's hope the toilets do work, because there's going to be plenty of SHIT on stage performing.
At least there wasn't any filthy mess on stage performing 41 years ago.

Exciting, but what a terrible line up of bands...
Despite being a legend, you can barely understand Bob Dylan these days.
And the rest, popular bands from a decade or more ago?
This sounds far from the spirit of the original Woodstock. - 2 years ago
