'Twilight:Eclipse' ensures that it will be 'The Last Airbender'

As a surprise to absolutely no one, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse is the number one movie at the domestic box office. The film has raked in an estimated $69 million this weekend and $177 million worldwide since its opening Wednesday. That places Eclipse just $3million behind the all time July 4th weekend grosser, 2004's Spider-Man 2. It did set new records for the widest release in film history, the largest gross for a film opening on a Wednesday, and biggest opening ever for an independent film. It's also the tenth fastest movie to ever pass $100 mark as well as being ninth highest grossing movie of the year. The film has given director David Slade his biggest opening ever and it's the third highest grossing film in the Twilight series but it should pass up the original Twilight by the middle of next week and 2009's New Moon within the next two weeks if it continues at its current pace.
