Forget about “Friday the 13th” or Freddy Krueger. You’re not likely to encounter a more frightening film than Lucy Walker’s documentary “Countdown to Zero.” Addressing the proliferation of nuclear weapons, the looming danger of their usage and the supreme devastation that would occur, it is a chilling reminder of this massive, all too real threat to life on the planet. The likely hazards of global warming seem akin to a scrape on the knee compared to the annihilation represented by this sometimes oddly forgotten menace.
