In a small town across the river from Cincinnati, Ohio lies a story that is hard for some to believe. Organized crime bosses Meyer Lansky and Moe Dalitz both were heavily invested in what once was the gambling mecca of the United States. Two high school teachers Jerome Gels and Mac Cooley monetized on this history when they created the Newport Gangster Tour (www.newportgangsters.com). Now they are teaming up with restaurateur Eric Haas of the Newport Hofbrau Haus (www.hofbrauhausnewport.com) and Cincinnati based production company zoneCG (www.zonecg.com) to bring this story to the silver screen. The feature length documentary titled Newport | Gangsters, Gamblers, and Girls is currently in production. Most recently the production team had the opportunity to interview Johnny "TV" Peluso, former city Mayor who shared stories about both good times and corruption. The interviews have uncovered several links to Vegas. When those leads were pursued it turns out that there are individuals in Las Vegas who used to be dealers in Newport Casinos who made the move to Vegas. The production team is currently looking for anyone who might have a connection to Newport Kentucky during it's gambling heyday. If you have stories and your interested in sharing them contact www.zonecg.com.
