We Canadians aren't getting a "discount" by any means. We're getting less content and no snail mail delivery with the lower price tag. So why would anyone ask to pay less when it comes with less stuff anyway?
I do actually want to get netflix, but when there's so much less content, what's the point? I'd gladly pay *a whole dollar more* to get mail delivery and up-to-date movies. I think the Canadian stock starts from last year's movies...

I just called Netflix to ask about this. They said it's because Canada cannot get movies shipped and they only have the option for online viewing. Then I asked about only online viewing in the states and they said maybe in the future. I quoted the article to the representative and he was surprised then said, "Reed has been saying a lot of things lately."
