Bad Mix: LAPD, Hollywood "Bruno" crew and Prop 8 Civil Demonstration

ThirdRailMedia
LAPD Top Brass is caught on camera being persuaded to allow the "Bruno" commercial film production to continue filming at a tense Prop 8 demonstration downtown in front of City Hall. LAPD had already ejected the film crew twice and threatened Sacha Baron Cohen with arrest for 'inciting a riot'. The Captain make the judgment to grant permission for more filming - if only the crew joins the "south side" where the No On 8 supporters demonstrate. Evidence shows that the Captain and LAPD were unaware if the "Bruno" film crew even had proper filming permits to be at the demonstration.

Was the Captain's judgment sound police policy or an expression of his own personal views on the same-sex marriage issue?

What is the Los Angeles Police Department's responsibility at civil demonstrations - public safety, protecting civil rights, or helping Hollywood get it's shot?

The civil demonstration was November 2, 2008.

    • By presenting this video to the citizens of Los Angeles, I hope to shine a light on how Hollywood and the LAPD operate. And I hope this inspires discussion.
