insaintity
This film explores the evolution of propaganda and public relations in the United States, with an emphasis on the "elitist theory of democracy" and the relationship between war, propaganda and class.

For them, it's not so much a war as a traumatic event that has shaped the way they experience Life.

All you can do is embrace crazy shit like that; it's not necessarily pride.

I don't think they're requesting to be treated differently so much as acknowledging where their sensitivities lie.

those who served thier country proudly yes.those who instead of serving thier country were slaughtering civilians no.not really complex stuff.
as a soldier your job is to be a pofessional murderer.you do you job, and do it well, you have no reason to not be proud of your service regardless of the outcome.

you know thier is a huge difference between acting like a soldier while killing civilians, and meeting your enemy on a battlefield right?

yes, as they were proud warriors.they did exactly what was needed at the time.they fought valiantly for the safety and security of thier own.they protected those who could not protect themsleves.
that is the perspect they are sold upon knowing what they had done, but a lot of those guys were lied to about htier missions.we know they shot civilians, but they think they shot vietcong.

at the end of the day the word came, danger.and they did thier job.

the difference between the two is one is comissioned as a matter of securing a society, and the other pure evil.unless you can show me that country that figured out how to keep thier existance with out a military?

      this isnt really tough stuff.
      ex:
judaism forbids suicide as an affront to god.
yet those who sacrificed themselves at the cliffs of massada are revered as most honerable, despite thier actions being forbiden.

you step up or aside when you are called.those who step up are honorable people that give a debt to those who step aside that can never be repaid.those guys who napalmed vietnam are part of the reason you and i can have this argument.hence the honor in fighting for freedom.we live as testaments to it.

    • Strangely , I was brought up to see propaganda every where . Even that cannot make you immune to it though . For that you need access to the truth .

    • A wake up call for the populace who believe the consumption of goods and the attainment of material wealth will make them happy. Educate yourself and turn off your tv.

    • Good stuff, although it didn't tell me much I didn't already know.

Running through the early history of propaganda was like a rerun of my Gilded Age America class. As soon as they mentioned the mining town I was like "oh, here comes the Ludlow Massacre." To get the proper context for that event, you should know that Rockefeller gave a sermon about capitalism that very morning that the troops killed those people.

    • This is a PROPAGANDA film, NOT a documentary.
This film falsely claims that 70% of Americans thought Iraq could send over nuclear missiles to USA. That is BALONEY. Much speculation and heresay is presented as fact.

If you want to get technical, this site is a propaganda site... because it has advertising on it. And for all I know... you work for the "baloney" company and that was product placement!!!! :P

This documentary is in line with a lot of history I've read. Because they got the percentage wrong in a poll is a terrible example of hearsay presented as fact.

You haven't convinced me... but everything I know about George Creel HAS convinced me. Sure, propaganda is everywhere. That's not a revelation.

Are you denying that our government uses propaganda on it's own citizens to fuel war? Because that would be, to say the least... unwise.

You might be missing the overall point in the film by picking small facts to dismantle. Anybody can do that. It takes real critical thinking, though, to entertain a thought without accepting it. I'm not saying you're not a critical thinker... I'm just sayin.

You could also say that just because something is biased doesn't mean there's no truth to it. Even the most insane, out there rhetoric often has little nuggets of wisdom in it.

unless i am mistaken the part that you are making reference to and miss stating as well, is

a large segment of the American public were convinced a nuclear strike by sadam was not only possible but imitate. - time index 11:32 to 11:43

it then quickly goes on to indicate that the American forces invading Iraq were confused and then continues to go on indicated that 77% of the troops thought sadam was responsible for the attacks of 9/11 and at about - time index11:43 it jumps right into this

please pay attention and listen to what is being said. although the editting was poor
