The vaguely grand and grandly vague heading “Celebrated Women of Color Collection” is perhaps appropriate for an oddly packaged quartet of features that offer an impressive assemblage of African-American actresses, but a dim connection beyond their studio linkage.
The anchoring duo is indeed of a pair, the mid/late 90’s adaptations of Terry McMillan’s popular novels, “Waiting to Exhale” and “How Stella Got Her Groove Back.” Though greeted with a fair share of enthusiasm back in the day, the two haven’t aged especially well.
