Jean-Claude Van Damme, who turned fifty on Monday, suffered a heart attack on the set of his new movie, Weapon. The incident occurred over the weekend, but was kept under wraps until now.
E! Online reports that the Muscles from Brussels was in New Orleans to shoot a few scenes for his new movie, but production was suddenly halted shortly after arrival. It has now been reported that shooting was stopped because Van Damme suffered a minor heart attack.
Twitchfilm.com reports that Van Damme was taken to a New Orleans hospital for a brief stay, before returning to his home in Belgium with his wife and children.
Van Damme has yet to comment on the situation, but E! reports that he is expected to make a full recovery. No word on when or if Weapon will resume shooting.
