Eco Celebs are a big part of the green space and in 2010 celebrities played an integral role whether if it was to raise awareness and money for the BP Oil Spill, animal cruelty or living healthy lifestyles. Our list of our top 10 favorite eco celebs is filled with celebs who captured headlines, stood out from the rest of the pack and just had the biggest impact in 2010.
While putting the list together we began thinking about 2011 and the Eco Celebs that are making waves currently and could stand out in the upcoming year.
So WHO made our lists?
Stars like James Cameron, George Clooney, Natalie Portman, Pamela Anderson all made the list.
Here are some and click the link for the full list!
George Clooney - Clooney has always be known for his acting career and his charitable ways but this year it seemed like Clooney was in headlines more for his humanitarian efforts than his acting career. He started the year by spearheading a star studded charity event (Hope for Haiti) for the victims of Haiti raising over $66 million, in August he became one of only 4 actors to receive the Bob Hope Humanitarian award at the Emmys and then ended the year with making headlines after meeting with President Obama for Sudan.
James Cameron - Although Cameron's blockbuster 3D hit Avatar was released in 2009, the nature and eco-friendly story had a big impact for Cameron in 2010. In honor of Earth Day, Avatar was released on DVD/Blu-Ray and Cameron and FOX promised to plant 1 Million trees by the end of 2010. Cameron like many celebrities was in the thick of the BP Oil Spill trying to help in any way they can, but made headlines when supposedly BP turned down Cameron's help. Cameron stayed in the headlines with other news inlcuding developing a special 3D camera for NASA's next Mars Rover mission and ended the year by giving the top cast of Avatar a Prius as their Christmas gift. He was one of the main Eco Warriors for 2010 and the Navi (alien race from Avatar) would be proud!
