Television soaps sometimes try to mix real life tragedy with scripted drama and for Eastenders the latest storyline has had 3,400 people complain.
The BBC news site reports the complaints state the storyline where "Ronnie Branning, played by Samantha Womack, swapped her dead baby for the baby of Jessie Wallace's character, Kat Moon." as being 'insensitive, irresponsible and desperate. According to the site the storyline was released in November and there were complaints, however majority appeared when the show aired.
The show does include a helpline and it is stated Foundation for Sudden Infant Deaths (FSID) advised them on the issue of cot death (which saw script changes) but not on the 'drama line'
