Though it’s billed as a comedic take on the sometimes excessively serious superhero genre, Michel Gondry’s Green Hornet isn’t successful as a comedy or a superhero epic. While it’s funny and features a few imaginative sequences, Hornet never manages to commit to either genre consistently. It’s like every Michel Gondry film not written by Charlie Kaufman; an entertaining but woozy mixture of dazzling visuals and sharp tonal inconsistency.
