Watch Kirsten Dunst squirm as Lars Von Trier digs an increasingly big hole for himself by proclaiming that he's a Nazi at the Cannes press conference for his latest movie "Melancholia".
Anyone who knows anything about Von Trier's career knows that the man is a bit mad and likes to crack bad jokes to provoke.
After realising his comments were a bit too much - the director went into damage control, apologising for the comments and saying he wasn't anti-Semitic.
But it was too late for the festival organisers who declared Lars von Trier persona non grata and banished him from Cannes. His film Melancholia remains in the official competition for the Palme d'Or.
Many are arguing that the festival organisers over reacted. Have a look at the video and decide for yourself if you think he was crossing the line or not.

They have definitely over reacted. There was no need to banish him. No one deserves to be banished for being hilarious. I think he should fight for his freedom of expression instead of apologising. He comes from the land that created the Jyllands-Posten Muhammad cartoons controversy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jyllands-Posten_Muhammad_cartoons_controversy) after all. Hmm... I smell double standards here.
