The Terrence Malick film 'The Tree of Life' has been awarded the Palme d'Or at the close of the 64th Cannes Film Festival.
Despite a mixed reaction when it was screened, the jury felt that the film, starring Brad Pitt, Jessica Chastain and Sean Penn, was a worthy winner, with a possibillity of doing well at next years Oscars. The Co-producer Bill Pohlad accepted the award on hehalf of Malick, who didn't attend the festival to promote the film.
