"Marcus Nispel has seemingly come out of nowhere to forge a career as a maker of dismal remakes of classic films. It started with The Texas Chainsaw Massacre in 2003, a depressing and nihilistic reworking of the seminal 1970’s horror flick, and happened again with the 2009 Friday the 13th, another dreary and unimaginative remake of a 1980’s classic. And now, in the foul year of our Lord 2011, Marcus Nispel makes it a trifecta of pointless and horrible remakes with his re-do of Conan the Barbarian."
