Review: ‘Real Steel’ doesn’t have brains but it has plenty of heart

"Let’s get the obvious out of the way right here and right now – a movie about giant robot boxers and the people who control them was not made to change the world and win every award in sight. It’s a simple family sports movie, frankensteined together from other sports and family movies that have come before it, slickly made and fairly entertaining, and in that regards, it’s a success of a film. It’ll thrill children, it’s cool enough for the teenagers, and most parents won’t be bored by the movie’s energy. For what it set out to do, Real Steel totally succeeds."
