But a connected "world" of books and text, and the forerunner to RPG worlds, Sci-Fi "Shared Worlds",...and MMORPG environments.
Movies are finally catching up. "Barsoom and "John Carter of Mars" is next !

if I remember this added plot material correctly,......they have to drive the still relatively under powered Sauron out of his fortress in south south west Mirkwood I forget the fortress name,........ Dol -goldure or something,......looking that shit up now - Gods but I love that campaign world !
