    • artemis6, you and I most frequently agree. This appears as a conundrum. I'm looking for ways around the conundrum. Here are some observations I can add about the conundrum:

      Obama and Clinton are not completely behind those local officers. Their federal organizations and their salaries come from a different system and a different purse than the local purses. While it seems like they are all authorities and connected, that isn't always the case, at least not in total.

      I think there is some room for something like a "Clean for Gene" campaign. The Clean for Gene idea is described here:

      Gene McCarthy had some positive influence in getting us out of a war that had been going on indefinitely. Definitely, LBJ felt his influence.

      The best response I have is to get behind the feds and offer as much positive support as possible. This administration will likely be up against the effects of Citizens United and a flood of corporate negative advertising.
