"The 1986 comic, written and drawn by Frank Miller, was a key inspiration for the Chris Nolan Batman films. It helped to reimagine the character away from his Saturday morning cartoon image and into a dark, grim avenger. The point of this particular scene in the comic was to show just how far Gotham has fallen since Batman had retired.
To those who will dismiss the link between the preceding comic and the Colorado shooting as a “mere coincidence,” permit me to paraphrase Police Commissioner Gordon (Gary Oldman) in the Batman movie now showing in theaters: “You’re a detective now. For you there are no more coincidences.”
In magic, the highest ritual imprinting of the Group Mind is accompanied by blood sacrifice.
And of course the bat has not traditionally been associated with goodness, but rather the opposite, from the bat of the “Dracula” mythos, to the masonic bat caves of New Mexico, the Bat Towers of Florida and Texas, and Die Fledermaus. But in America, where heads-is-tails and sinners are saints, the ominous bat image has been reversed and transformed into a crime fighter.
Within 24 hours of the shootings, when the investigation should begin in earnest, the Washington Post (online July 20, 6:47 p.m.) has closed the case by issuing the familiar lone-nut declaration: "The only near-certainty is that the gunman (James Holmes) acted alone and not as part of a terrorist group or other conspiracy.” A similar semi-omniscient statement was issued by the establishment media in 1977 in the immediate aftermath of the apprehension of “lone nut” David Berkowitz as the “Son of Sam.” Years later this “near certainty” was deflated when it was revealed that Berkowitz had not acted alone. There were other conspirators and another shooter. This fits an observable pattern, as in cases such as the assassinations of President Kennedy, his brother Bobby and Martin Luther King. (Recall that Gary Oldman portrayed “lone nut" Lee Harvey Oswald in the movie “JFK” and Dracula in Coppola’s version of the classic film).

The reality is that we humans live in a world enveloped by spiritual powers (fallen, but still potent), a fact that is only slightly acknowledged by most, but not by Scripture. "We know that we are from God, and the whole world lies in the
power of the evil one." {1 John 5:19} and again in Revelation, the curtain is pulled away to reveal the REAL force at work manipulating human affairs; "And the great dragon was thrown down, the serpent of old who is called the devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him." {Revelation 12:9} - 10 months ago

What about the Murrah Federal Building? A near certainty it was a lone actor seemed to happen really soon in the investigation. The quick resolution of any investigation like this always makes me suspicious. Kind of like the eleven hijackers.

As the horror unfolded for police first on the scene of the Colorado theater massacre, the officers repeatedly sent out urgent pleas for more ambulances even as a two-man crew and their rig were idling just a few miles away.
Radio traffic from last Friday's shooting in Aurora, Colo., showed emergency personnel struggling to grasp both the scope of the tragedy and mobilize a response.
While some ambulances were quickly called to duty, it took dispatchers more than 20 minutes into the crisis to ask the Cunningham Fire Protection District and other nearby agencies to provide aid at the multiplex in suburban Denver.
By the time the Cunningham crew arrived, it was more than a half hour after authorities got first word that a gunman opened fire at a packed midnight showing of the new Batman film "The Dark Knight Rises," killing 12 people and injuring dozens of others.

BatMan is the defender of the capitalist machine, not the defender of freedom and the liberation of the oppressed masses.

Well I think that you are right in some ways. Wasn't Wayne Enterprise a multinational corporation that sold weapons and tech to US and other countries?
I got the impression that in Dark Knight, Wayne Enterprises was more powerful than the Federal Government and that there was just a power struggle between the mob and the military industrial complex with the state government caught in the middle. Perhaps I'm wrong though.

That is my take on the narrative of the film. American Freedom and Prosperity that supposedly is embodied in Batman is a myth.
