Thursday's Important News: Pleasant Venom Director, A Pryor Wayans Brother and Abel Ferrara's Game of Death

We're hours away from a new Rotten Tomatoes Show, but there's plenty of important news to go around before that.

  • -Gary Ross (he of Pleasantville fame) will write and possibly(...?) direct an adaptation of Venom. [Current]

  • -Marlon Wayans is reportedly trying to play Richard Pryor in the biopic Is It Something I Said? We say, sure. [Current]

  • -In a bit of Herzog-ian oddball news, Abel Ferrara and Wesley Snipes are teaming up for Game of Death, about a bodyguard fighting off five assassins. Pagoda optional. [Variety]

  • -Thomas Jane talks on The Punisher in film, how he'd still like to make it, etc. And oddly, I'd be thrilled if he did. [MTV Splash Page]

  • -On the fest front, Tokyo International Film Fest will show The Cove .[Variety]

  • -Jeff Wells' Best of the Decade list should be seen (and believed.) [HE]

  • -Finally, what Manhattan is like. [omgitsftw]
