Days before Christmas and days after the festival of lights--so what do you do? Well, that's where we come in with some help from Rotten Tomatoes. After all, where else are you going to find out the DVDo's and DVDon'ts?
The Rule 63 DVD of the Week: Ichi is a re-imaging of the Zatoichi franchise from the director of Ping Pong. Which means it's definitely worth a look if you're into the old Blind Swordsman.
The Fresh:
- -District 9 was this summer's breakout sci-fi hit, complete with robots and alien transformations.
- -(500) Days of Summer was this summer's breakout rom-com that had Zooey Deschanel.
- -It Might Get Loud was this summer's rock-doc about how awesome guitars are from Davis Guggenheim.
- -Extract was...wait. This came out this year? Man.
The Rotten:
- -All About Steve is one of the worst reviewed films of the year with one of the oddest endings.
- -Staten Island has the wrong DVD cover art.
- -Blind Date did not bode well for Stanley Tucci, the director.
- -Beyond A Reasonable Doubt came out this year. Did you notice? Of course not.
