Mini Trailer Time: Tekken . My God.

The video game adaptation is a peculiar art. Even when made so simple, you could KISS it, you can still turn it into a horrifying abortion--i.e. Max Payne. Up next for your consideration, Tekken. Does this trailer hold accurate to the game, whose own plot is so convoluted that it is intensely debated on Wikipedia? Do you care? Did you even realize Tekken had a plot? Let's indulge the trailer.
For a moment, let's praise Jon Foo, who gives Jin (aka "The People's Choice"), a breath of underdog life. In fact, let's get downright joyous because Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa shows up. Already we're in the realm of "awesome B-Action Film Star cameos."
Ignoring the mythology set up by the game--at some point, characters like The Devil, The Angel and cyborgs show up--this looks like a decent, generic fighter film. And I can get behind that.
Of course, the entire "The People's Choice" plot point wears thin within 15 seconds. So I loathe that being the entire plot for the film, aside from " I MUST TAKE REVENGE FOR X REASON." But hey, people don't make these for wards. They make them for DVD recouping.
