Die, Die, Die My Darling Imagi

There was a point in time when people thought Imagi would be the second coming of animation. After all, they were going to release 3D versions of anime classics like Astro Boy and Gatchaman. Then Astro Boy tanked. Now, they've shuttered their Los Angeles branch.
According to HotStocked, not only does this shrink Imagi to a Hong Kong and Tokyo office, but even in their respective markets are they a "poorly traded" stock desperate for investors. Despite having never delivered anything worth while, this isn't the first time Imagi needed funding due to other investors having common sense and functioning eyeballs.
Of course, when a company changes its tune from "photorealistic animation" to "stylized anime" because their animation is sub-par, you really shouldn't be surprised that no one is heaping cash upon you.
The likelihood that Imagi manages to get any funding for another project, let alone a 3D film, is right up there with Astro Boy not being an analogy for nuclear weapons.
