Michael Gambon and Robbie Coltrane Talk -- and Sing! -- 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows' Parts 1 & 2

Harry Potter's biggest supporters (at least when it comes to size) are Dumbledore and the giant Hagrid -- played by Michael Gambon and Robbie Coltrane, respectively. Taking advantage of the oversized chairs in Hagrid's Hut at the Harry Potter Exhibition in Times Square, recently, the two actors caught up with each other as well as other members of the Order of the Phoenix and Harry's surrogate family  -- and in between, tried not to spill too many secrets about "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" Part 1 (out on DVD April 15) and Part 2 (out in theaters July 15).

Q: There's a special feature on the DVD showing how Hagrid rides his flying motorcycle...

RC: I've not seen this. I've not seen any of those, no.

Q: Oh! Well, they're finally disclosing how you do Hagrid...

RC: Oh, I told them not to. Because, it's all well saying children have watched all seven movies, they deserve to see it, but what about the children who are just starting to watch the first one? That's going to screw it up for them. The children obviously know it's a trick. It's like what Orson Welles said, "Everyone knows the lady isn't sawed in two." It's a trick. But it's like any other card trick -- once somebody knows how it's done, it's no longer a trick.

MG: That's right.

Q: That's not spoiling it as much as saying what happens in Dumbledore's scenes in the next film...

MG: I do? I don't know what made the cut. I didn't have that many scenes. I don't know what made it in. I can't wait to see it.

Q: Was there any particular death in "Deathly Hallows" that affected you the most?

RC: Whenever it's a young person, because they make a body, a doll for the body, and they're obviously incredibly realistic, because they're cast from the real thing.

MG: Yeah.

RC: And you look at that and go, "God," because it weighs the same, too. It's really strange.

Q: Have you had a chance while you're in New York to see Daniel Radcliffe on Broadway in "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying"?

RC: I'm hoping to see it tomorrow.

MG: I'll see it when it comes to the West End.

Q: Now that Daniel can sing and dance, does that mean there might be a "Harry Potter: The Musical"?

RC: Oh, boy. [Sings] "It's magic, it's magic!" No, I don't think so. [grins] What ever happened to the "Spider-Man" musical? How do they do all those mechanical flying-around things? It must be difficult. [Sings] "Sticking to the walls... I'm sticking to the walls... Oh, no, I'm not." [Laughs]
