@justvisiting- Your life isn't over, is it? I used to play the flute until I decided it wasn't as cool as... whatever I decided back then in 6th grade... Let's learn to play the piano together, and I'll teach you to speak German. I'm not perfect at it, but I learned it for four years in high school. It's really just like English... NEVER RETREAT, NEVER SURRENDER!

This is a great visual manifestation of electronic music. Music is adapting to new technologies. Now, if only record labels could learn to adapt to this new technology called the Internet...

i want one! this would totally turn the music industry upside down. bc then EVERYONE would be able to make decent music (if they can afford the reactable). would we still need to listen to other people's music? if i could make my own (im musically challenged), i dont think i would listen to anyone elses.

Good news: this technology will probably become mainstream.
Bad news: those pioneers will probably not be remembered as the ones that invented it (using Ubuntu Linux, no less). - 3 years ago

this would go well with a Drum Buddy, by Mr. Quintron - a nice analogue drum machine, made of PVC pipe and a COFFEE CAN.
interface, yes; musical instrument, well, mmm, ok, whatever.

The reactable is awesome. It is a great way to visualize sound. It would be great in one of those discovery science museums.

I also wanted to forward this amazing invention to my friends, and actually my music teacher(I''m a music tech major to be), so I was somewhat disappointed to find it''s only available to view the way I did, on tv. Thanks for the link.

I want one of these so bad! I saw it at the last Bjork show that came through town and it blew my mind. What a beautiful and intuitive way to create music.

Tight- I wish I could play around with one of these! I love the idea of a 'collective instrument' and 'making creativity more democratic'...

Simply amazing. A great way to initiate people into learning sound synthesis, and such an intuitive instrument for a creative musician. ReacTable is a leap forward for engaging music design. If it is ever made commercially available, it would surely be one of the coolest pieces of kit in any musician's arsenal. I want one!

Not playing an instrument is one thing I really regret - the other is not being fluent in another language. What do you regret?

Here's a Wired article about the ReacTable. Has some footage of it in use at a Bjork concert.
