1 ON 1 with ANGELA PEEL

amaliaterrazas
Venice Beach, CA -- When she's not lashing out a new song or writing for other up-and-coming artists, American Idol alumna Angela Peel works her "summer job" in Venice...waiting for the next big break. I happened upon Angela one weekend while she was just finishing up a set..Making my way thru the huge crowd of captivated fans (and yes, I'm one too now), I asked her if she would grant me an interview - she cheerfully accepted and then kindly asked me to come back in 15 minutes (so she could finish writing her new song)...ha!...of course I came back! After all, when it comes to art, i stand in no man's way! We talked inspirations, collaborations, aspirations, miscommunications, politics, and even a little astrology. Just let me say: Angela Peel is a jewel in the center of this setting AND is as charming as she is talented...that's ALOT these days...and that's what makes her a REAL American Idol.

    • i absolutely loved the beginning, and I'm a big fan of good use of close-ups, so you got off to a really great start, I just got bored though with the continued use of just interview interlaced with performance. I quit mid-way, so I'm not sure if you deviated some more after that. But my suggest would be more variation of visuals

    • I liked the back story on this pod. I love it when these thing sort of happen. I would suggest an edit down. I felt it was a little repetitive after the visuals were already presented. If you edit it down. I'll bounce a Green light.

Let me know what you think of my pod about an indie rock band. We Are Little Brazil
      thanks

    • Nice music. Interesting character. I can't wait to see her get a major record deal.

Check out my pod "Home for the Holidays" when you have a chance.

    • I love how this happened spontaneously! If more people just went with their instinct and just happened-upon stuff we'd be a lot better off! She has a beautiful voice and is a really inspiring person. Good job! Green light!

    • Mmmm. Tacos. I'll find it fo sho.

Man, I love the opening of your pod. I'd love to have 5 minutes of the VB b-roll and the artist singing/humming scales, playing her songs as a soundtrack. kind of like the old NYC films they'd play on Sesame Street without the drab cityscapes.

    • The POD did not hit me over the head, but I did like it. Just a few nit picky things (in my opinion) camera movements during the interview were a little distracting. I would use a tripod next time. For the interview itself, I understand she is there to make money and to be seen, but I would have asked if we could be interviewed some were else when she was done for the day.

I have been to Venice Beach many times and know that there are a lot of walls around there with pictures and/or graffiti which would have helped clean up the background. The audio needs a little help as well. But like I said I liked it and I know how hard it is to try to work with a Venice street artist. Just my 2 cents!

    • I like that you established VB. Wish we could've seen more b-roll to break up the interviews, but that's really my only criticism. I enjoyed it. Go awn Texas!

    • Such a beautiful voice and even talented writer. I hope she makes it. Could be shorter and the feedback on the sound hurts this a little. It would also be nice if you could weve in some of her music in the background as she speaks, but I loved the subject anywho. GL.
