A music publisher sued Fox Broadcasting Co. on Wednesday for copyright breach, accusing it of adding anti-Semitic lyrics to a copy of "When You Wish Upon A Star" in an episode of the television series "Family Guy. This does not sound like "When you wish upon a star" to me. What do you think?

    • It's clearly inspired by "When I wish upon a star" but really? A lawsuit? Please. For one thing, it's a classic sound alike - and not all that much like the original. Companies get away with ripping off popular songs, changing the last few notes in the progression and they get away with it. And they're selling stuff. Let's not forget that this is parody which has its own protections under the law as well.

      But don't get me started...

    • I definately dont think they have a case with the "Wish upon a star"--but this song does include all of the general jewish stereotypes which perpetuates the idea. What I'm wondering is--was this indeed written by some Jews?

Whether its Jewish people or any other ethnic group--using age old stereotypes to make your humor is normally the symptom of lack of creative vigor..
