I learned everything I know about music from liner notes. (Reading those from classic Blue Note albums is better than taking a history of jazz course).

Oh, and the liner notes aren't bad either!

Great thing about the Jimi Blues album that AC mentioned, other than the stellar renditions of Hear My Train A Comin', Red House, Jelly 292 and the greatest recorded version of Born Under a Bad Sign, is the fact that, like a lot of Miles' albums, these tracks were recorded in the wee hours of the morning after Jimi and the gang were out partying all night.
They would just roll into the studio and throw down a session.
Probably one of the most influential individuals that has ever lived. He pushed the limits of music beyond which anyone had ever heard and his music still retains its raw, experimental quality to this day.

Hendrix was and still is awesome. One of my favorite musical artists of all time, quite literally.
He could make the guitar speak, and sing, and weep. - 5 years ago
