Children's Suicide Bomb Sing-a-Long DVD Being Investigated

Anti-terrorist police are investigating the sale of a children's DVD that appears to glorify suicide bombing. The disc, part of an Egyptian-made series, shows a girl singing about following in her mother's footsteps and sacrificing herself in pursuit of jihad.

It was apparently bought in a Muslim bookshop in Bradford, West Yorkshire. The first video shows an Arab woman playing with her two children before leaving home with dynamite tucked into her dress. She is approached by soldiers and the camera pauses on her before an explosion lights up the screen.

And people like to complain about Sesame Street...

    • This article disturbs me. It is horrifying to think that in other countries around the world, adults are teaching these actions to their children. What is even more terrible is that it is considered alright, even glorified. However, this type of action is part of the culture of these people. They believe that if they die while taking more with them, they will get to see their God faster. This DVD is basically the equivalent to a Christian Sing-A-Long DVD in the United States. Different religions have different beliefs, regardless of human rights and morals.

    • Matt...WTF? Are you serious? Anyway, it's interesting that there is a segment of culture on this planet that feels the need to commit these kind of crimes. Our first reaction is anger, disgust, perhaps even hatred in some cases. But, in my opinion, we need to ask ourselves, and these people, WHY? What in your life, and the lives of generations before you, has brought you to this point? What is wrong, and what can we do about it? What NEEDS to happen? We need to ask questions and learn about this problem, inside and out. It is only through unity, not opposition, that we can make any kind of genuine progress. Seriously, if you've got kids, what would make you walk away from them and blow up yourself and a bunch of other people? Men are one thing, (sorry) but what would make a WOMAN do that? Clearly, they feel justified for some reason... It's hard not to be disgusted, but these guys live in a different world. A much more real, carnal, vicious world than what you and I are familiar with.

      Today's Metro reports that in one of the singalong stories, a young girl proclaims that she'll follow in the footsteps of her mum, who has blown herself up.
      After finding out about the suicide on TV, the daughter finds a stick of dynamite in her mum's wardrobe and turns to the camera as the subtitles read: 'My love will not be by words. I will follow in my mother's steps.'

      Regardless of the race of people in the film, that's still a totally unacceptable thing to be directing at children.

    • I'd like to hear this guy's opinion on the DVD, I don't think what he's saying is necessarily the 'gospel' but it's an interesting view...

      I do wonder if this DVD had been filmed with Caucasian actors, what everyone's response would've been?

    • What an insane story.

      Very interesting video here with an account from an Australian aid worker who witnessed the use of child suicide bombers when she was working in the Middle East.
