RUN DMC's "Raising Hell" was a defining moment for me and my culture...it helped me find my heart and voice, and it taught me more than my school was. Where were you first heard Raising Hell?

    • I was 10 years old and my parents were stationed @ Offutt AFB near Omaha, NE. Far, far away from the center of the hip hop universe. My 9 year old brother was the one who actually purchased the tape. Looking back, he was a lot cooler than I remember thinking he was. Thanks bro.

      RIP JMJ

    • I was not even born yet. but when i did finnaly hear it
i was like 9 and my older sister always played it and i had no clue what it was untill i did my homework and started producing hip hop and djing. it was then that i realized the effect that run dmc and jmj had on the underground and mainstream of hip hop. respekt

    • I was 6 years old, and my next door neighbor who was three years older than me, and whom I absolutely idolized, had the tape. He would play it in the background while we were playing some parachuting game on the old B&W Macs. One day after much begging he finally made me a copy, and to this day I still have it. Totally changed my life.

    • I was in the seventh grade living in 3000 miles from NYC. This album put the hip hop genre on the map for me. A few friends and I memorized most of the words on this album. Wish I had a video recording. 3 kids in the heart of suburbia rapping their hearts out on a picnic table in the middle of the school quad.

"(One) day when I was chillin' in Kentucky Fried Chicken
Just mindin' my business, eatin' food and finger lickin'
This dude walked in lookin' strange and kind of funny
Went up to the front with a menu and his money
He didn't walk straight, kind of side to side
He asked this old lady, "Yo, yo, um...is this Kentucky Fried?"
The lady said "Yeah", smiled and he smiled back
He gave a quarter and his order, small fries, Big Mac!
