    • This is the kind of journalism that spikes the blood with excitement. To see women proudly raising their voices through music or art in a country with one of the lowest rankings on the gender equality index
(which I did not know was the case until seeing this) makes me almost violently happy.

It's awesome to see this, I hope it sparks a revolutionary wave of movement from women in Sierra Leone and elsewhere. This one gets a standing ovation from me.

    • This reminds me much of my country Jamaica. Music is a big influence on society like many countries. It is however split between dance hall and roots reggae. Its kinda like rap and say jazz. One is obviously bad influence and the other is chill. This then dived my country with some mixing around the boundaries.

    • This is so inspiring for artists everywhere. I have spent time in West Africa and fell in love with it. This piece truly captures the positivity and big hearts that I felt among the people in that region.

    • I love this pod. It is amazing what these women are doing to help Sierra Leone as a whole after the struggles they faced prior to 2002. This pod is fantastic because it focuses on one of the strongest characters in this movement: Star Zero. By taking a closer look at the impact she's making, it is easy to see how powerful this movement truly is. Great pod!

    • I think it's amazing what they're doing, using their hip-hop/rapping skills to get to people especially their youth. I think that is an essential quality artists should have, a deep sincere feeling to reach out to people...not just making money.

    • What's dope about this is way beyond the evolution of diasporic black music (Dancehall, Hip hop, hip life, etc.), but the fact that this is the group-swell of discourse and growth of youth culture, after the war.

As a young African, I find that the messages from the continent are still coming from older people. It's great that young people are stepping forward and defining their nation and Africa how they want it to be.
