Washington DC Sakura Matsuri

MarkMcK
Enjoy scenes from the largest one day Japanese Street Festival in the United States. The Washington DC Sakura Matsuri is a celebration of Spring and the diversity of Japanese culture. From traditional Geisha performances and Taiko drummers to Japanese Pop and Okinowa flavored Chindon bands.

In J-Pop Land, cosplayers and gamers enjoy a space to connect and in the Beer Garden, folks are welcome to try a variety of Sakis from the highest regarded region of saki manufacturing in Japan.

The DC Sakura Matsuri has something for everyone and the Ginza market is is where you'll probably find it. Kimonos, fabrics, teas and trinkets, you are sure to find something that you'll want to bring home.

From it's humble beginnings in a high school gymnasium to overtaking six city blocks in the middle of the Nation's Capital, see why the Washington DC Sakura Matsuri is an event not to miss.

    • This is well put together - it tells a story, the music is great (but not overwhelming), the interviews work together and I learned something! I liked that the imagery varied - that it shows the performers and the street and then includes shots that are pretty (and well-framed!) and even used the black/white line drawing while talking about anime. Kudos!
