According to his cousin, James Edwards, Davis died of a heart attack at Rush Foundation Hospital. Edwards said Davis had come back to the city he grew up in to retire, after living in New York and Nashville.

Talented singer and writer...I love that song and slow danced to it many times. From a time when we had really good music. I also loved the songs "Cool Night," "Sweet Life", and "65 Love Affair. Wow, brings back good memories. May he rest in peace.

"I Go Crazy" was in the top-40 charts for a long time and is still played on Oldies stations. I have the original album on which the song came out. Back in those days I played it to death. Mr. Davis was a talented writer and his voice was distinctive and right on the money. We Baby-Boomers are starting to drop like flies. Paul Davis will be missed by those who remember his work.
