Singer/Songwriter Paul Davis dead at 60

Singer/songwriter Paul Davis, who had a hit with the 1977 song “I Go Crazy” has died in Meridian, MS.

According to his cousin, James Edwards, Davis died of a heart attack at Rush Foundation Hospital. Edwards said Davis had come back to the city he grew up in to retire, after living in New York and Nashville.

    • Talented singer and writer...I love that song and slow danced to it many times. From a time when we had really good music. I also loved the songs "Cool Night," "Sweet Life", and "65 Love Affair. Wow, brings back good memories. May he rest in peace.

    • "I Go Crazy" was in the top-40 charts for a long time and is still played on Oldies stations. I have the original album on which the song came out. Back in those days I played it to death. Mr. Davis was a talented writer and his voice was distinctive and right on the money. We Baby-Boomers are starting to drop like flies. Paul Davis will be missed by those who remember his work.
