Hey all, this is a performance of Jack and the Beanstalk produced by the Missoula Children's theater and performed by the children of Florence, Oregon. It is a musical comedy performance and it is so much fun, the songs are terrific, and the children are amazing.
The show was sponsored by Florence, Oregon chapter of the Soroptimists http://www.soroptimist.org/
I shot the video and edited it, however, there were some technical difficulties with the sound in this venue. I thought I was going to be able to tap into their sound system and when I got there I found out that the show wasn't miked. So I had to improvise. I think it came out just fine with a couple small glitches.
Enjoy the show and let me know what you think.
"Many long years ago, when the world began to grow, before the wheels of progress rolled, many long years ago..." "Giants, horrible giants that roamed the countryside..." "Out hero Jack!"
I wish I had the names of the show Authors to give them proper credit, but I am posting this for the benefit of the Florence, Oregon Community that didn't get to see the performance because of the packed venue.
This is part 1 broken up into 6 - 10minue parts.

Thanks for posting this! I grew up in a tiny town in the California and and was "Jack" in this production when it came to town over 15 years ago. I have since grown up and moved far away, but the Missoula Children's Theater experiences (Jack and the following year, in the Wizard of Oz) are some of my favorite childhood memories.
By the way, I found this by searching for the lines "Many long years ago, when the world began to grow..." Once they drill those lines into your head for five days straight, you never forget.

Soroptimist International of Florence OR had the pleasure of hosting the Missoula Childrens' Theatre actor/directors for the recent production week of Jack and the Beanstalk. Although the story is old, this adaptation is all the creation of Missoula Childrens Theatre of Missoula MT. The musicals they adapt are original stories with a childs twist and original music. The children have 4 -5 days to memorize lines and songs for a production the 6th or 7th day of that week. Each play can have up to 100 actors, with the troupe providing sets, costumes, script and musical scores. To declare that the children rise above and beyond the call is putting it mildly; they're GREAT! Jo Hine Soroptimist of Florence OR President 2008
