Icelandic band Sigur Ros have confirmed their fifth album, catchily-entitled "'Með Suð í Eyrum Við Spilum Endalaust" will be released worldwide on June 23.

The title translates into English roughly as "With a buzz in our ears we play endlessly" and the tracklisting is as follows (just try requesting these from a DJ):

'Gobbledigook'
'Inní Mér Syngur Vitleysingur'
'Góðan Daginn'
'Við Spilum Endalaust'
'Festival'
'Suð í'
'Ára Bátur'
'Illgresi'
'Fljótavík'
'Straumnes'
'All Alright Eyrum'

The first song from the album, entitled ‘Gobbledigook’, is available worldwide for free download, via www.sigurros.com.

    • I'll be seeing them live in Tijuana next week. I'm also traveling around Iceland for two weeks in June and will be in Reykjavík for the album's release.
Gobbledigook doesn't sound anything at all like any of their previous songs, but I really like the fact that they are trying different things and I'm really curious to hear what the rest of the album sounds like.

    • I saw "Heima", but on small screen.

And I can't resist to list my Top 5.

      1. Untitled #1
      2. Sæglópur
      3. Starálfur
      4. Glósóli
      5. Untitled #3

    • Have you seen Heima in HD lwhi? It's phenomenal. I saw it for the first time on a giant screen in really good quality and it blew my socks off.

My top 5 Sigur Ros songs (I think. It should really be a top 30 list or something):

      1. Glosoli
      2. Olsen Olsen
      3. Svefn-g-englar
      4. Untitled #8
      5. Hoppipolla

Any of that top 5 list could be replaced by quite a few other songs of theirs though.

The thumbnail video links to their performance of Untitled # 8 from the end of the Heima film. It's long but it's great.

    • I love the fact they've called the first track Gobbledigook. Now feel like I need to learn how to pronounce Icelandic phonetics.

Untitled #1 (Vaka) is amazing - gives me chills. Saw them at Sheppard's Bush empire a year or so ago.

Here's a Sigur Ros video - click the link and you'll get to see it full screen in high definition. For the geeky amongst you - it uses a fancy new video codec (h264 in flash).

    • True, it gets better with a few listens.
It definitely surprised me and now I'm even more curious to listen to the whole album.

Here is my all-time favourite, "Untitled #1 (Vaka)", with a beautiful video by Floria Sigismondi.

    • Very different to anything I've ever heard by them but I like it. I was expecting to hear the soaring chords so it took me back a little but it's grown on me very quickly.

I'm hopefully going to be seeing them live this summer. They're playing at the Latitude festival, which I don't really fancy going to, so I'm going to try and see them in either Milan, Prague or Dresden.
