Bo Diddley 1928-2008

One of Rock n' Roll's godfathers is dead. Bo Diddley was widely recognized as one of a handful of musicians that brought about the transition from blues to rock and roll. Also known for his rectangular guitar, Bo Diddley's influence in rock and roll will place him amongst a distinguished few in the caverns of music history.

    • With all due respect to a groundbreaking music legend, and maybe it was just the portrayal of him in this pod, but he seemed pretty bitter and egotistical. A musician shouldn't be worried about other musicians fawning over their accomplishments or thanking them for their contribution. You make the contribution because the music moves you to innovate. Besides, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame - you can't ask for much more dap than that. As far as royalties for the "Bo Diddley" beat go...maybe he should have paid them to the New Orleans second line drummers that were playing that rhythm decades before he was born, or maybe to the Africans that brought that pulse to this hemisphere on slave ships.
      It is sad to any great musician go, though.
