Santogold Backstage

Hmmm...who is better, MIA or Santogold? well they are both fantastic but the real question is who pioneered their sound first- the similarities between them are too many to be coincidence. Unless of course they both tapped into the same part of the collective conscious at the same time, which is possible and sometimes happens with films...but unlikely.

she's awesome. i like her sound, her style and her personality. she's a positive influence to gals who hope to make their way in the industry. and quite frankly, it is nice to see someone do it without her bits and pieces hanging out for all to see. GO SANTOGOLD!

Santogold is one of the best new artists I have heard in quite some time, very interesting and intriguing and I don't get tired of listening to her songs over and over (which is rare for me). I am excited to see what music she will come up with in the future to enrich my life with for years and years to come. yay!

i love santogold, im glad that she's getting more and more attention nowadays. if you pay attention you'll hear her songs in some car and beer commercials too haha, hey at least its on tv

Great interview piece. Santogold comes off as a humble, mindful newcomer on the scene...and the collaboration with Diplo? Everything this beatmaster mixes turns to...GOLD! Cheap pun, but true.

in todays pop climate its easy to see how she is compared to MIA, but, she is a great artist on her own. diplo & santogold aren't looking to be on TRL, they are perfect examples of artists that posess talent without selling out.

I have to say this interview really 'changed my tune' on Santogold. I took the meaning of 'LES Artistes' and her MIA-esque sound as sign of surface deep hipster/scene pandering but it sounds like she's goin after it for the right reasons and has legit creative chops. And anyone who Diplo backs is worth their weight in (santo!)gold. He's the Warren Buffet of new talent.
