Unreleased Beatles recording discovered in attic

The 30-minute recording hasn't been played since the 60s, not a surprise since it's on 1960's high-tech cassette tape cassette.
It does however contain some lovely unreleased versions of The Beatles' hits 'I Feel Fine' and 'I'm A Loser' and the band giggling like a group of schoolgirls.

We are blessed to have been given what the Beatles have given us. This recording can neither help nor hurt my love for the Beatles.
Thank you, Beatles

When I was little, my uncle Steve, asked me if I knew who Paul McCartney was. All proud that I actually knew the answer, I replied, wasn't he in a really old band called "wings"?
My uncle now is a lead anchor (Steve Sanders) on WGN. He's not old.. but that day he felt ancient I am sure.

I wouldn't sell it for twelve thousand, surely it shouldn't just be sold off. Maybe give it to the Beatle's museum in Liverpool

If it was just found and unreleased then I would think the Paul and Ringo own it since they only sold the rights to the music that was available at the time of the sale.

I was going to ask the same question as CharlieG, about Michael Jackson. I think I heard awhile ago, during MJ's legal/money problems, that he lost or sold the rights to the Beatles music -- does anybody know if that's correct, and if so, who owns them now??

This is the most recent article I can find on the issue. I'm assuming he still owns at least half the rights, the other half belonging to Sony.

aah, I hope this will be made available to the public. Amazing that the tape's still in good condition - if it was a CD it'd probably be unplayably scratched by now.

I'd be surprised if it was released soon because The Beatles legacy is so tightly controlled and protected. I'd imagine they'd want George Martin to give it the works before it went anywhere near the public's ears.
And then if they did release it, they'd want to release it with full fanfare (it's The Beatles after all) which would delay things further.
Hopefully we'll get to hear it though. I loved their Anthology series.

Paul McCartney (1942) - British musician and frontman of 'The Beatles'
"I support decriminalization. People are smoking pot anyway and to make them criminal is wrong."
"I think the 'Just say no' mentality is so crazed. I saw a thing in a women's magazine the other day. 'He smokes cannabis, what am I to do? He laughs it off when I try to tell him, he says it's not really harmful...' Of course you're half hoping the advice will be, 'Well, you know it's not that harmful; if you love him, if you talk to him about it, tell him maybe he should keep it in the garden shed or something,' you know, a reasonable point of view. But of course it was, 'No, no, all drugs are bad. Librium's good, Valium's good. But cannabis, ooooh!' I hate that unreasoned attitude."
Paul McCartney helped pay for a 1967 advertisement in the London Times that called for legalization of pot possession, release of all prisoners on possession charges and government research into marijuana's medical uses. "I think we could decrimalize marijuana, and I'd like to see a really unbised medical report on it," he said after being deported from Japan for bringing nearly half a pound of marijuana into Tokyo for a Band on the Run concert tour in 1980. (John Lennon told a Paris newspaper that their band smoked pot at Buckingham Palace before being decorated by the queen in 1965.)

I like the word Liverpudlian. And I love the Beatles.
I wonder if they'll release this album, in which case the Bootlego Beatles will need to make a new album cover as well.

Great news! We can only hope “time capsule” Beatles music like this will eventually be made available to the public. I never get tired of listening to The Anthologies, bootlegs or any other alternate versions of songs from the greatest band of all time. Considering the basic technology used by The Beatles, most of today’s music is just plain boring & lacks innovation. Let's keep on rocking with priceless finds like this!

This has me giggling like a schoolgirl. I've got a picture disc of revolver with some of the early versions of the songs where they play around and act silly and try and find the magic. Some of those laid back versions are less produced and to my mind even better. This is far better than that, and sounds like a goldmine. I can't wait till fans get to hear this for the first time.

"The tape is being auctioned this August by Cameo Auctioneers, and is expected to reach a price between £8,000 and £12,000."
"So many great things, like concert appearances, radio interviews, lost or forgotten film footage, have surfaced in recent years... So, unearthing new audio is of course like a pirate finding the buried chest of gold. And to avid Beatles collectors, this kind of unearthed audio treasure is more valuable than even gold!
Unfortunately, though, sometimes these audio clips are never heard. Auctions for such things can quite often be very pricey... It depends on what the buyer’s intentions are to own them. If the buyer is Paul McCartney, this tape will likely never be heard again."
Is it Christmas? Come on Ringo... come Paul... come Dasher I mean George... come John. This is flippidy dippin awesome, so let us hear it.
