Grandpappy told my pappy back in my day, son
A man had to answer for the wicked that he'd done
Take all the rope in Texas
Find a tall oak tree, round up all of them bad boys
Hang them high in the street
For all the people to see
It doesn't necessarily talk about race but it is terrible to bring up a form of punishment that was used against Blacks and of course, with the Leo Frank incident, against a Jew. What do you think? A non-issue? No meaning in the song? Or is there something hateful in all this?

Well it sounds like it isn't directed towards the lynching of african americans, but think about it... I mean like... what if he WAS talking about that! That's like so mean and like so wrong. I know he has like free speech and all but... we have to stop what he's saying, just like that Imus guy.

Yes, American history that needs to be exposed for the morons and lowlifes that carried it out. Doing so in full defiance of the law. Unfortunately that type of hatred still exists. Fight it at every turn by exposing how wrong it is and soon it will not exist. Perpetuate it on ANY LEVEL and it will never go away. Why do people need to write songs about such things when the world is violent enough. There was a Charlie Daniels song after the events in NY and it was horrible. Something about this is a flag and it ain't no rag and we don't wear it on our heads....or something to that effect. He was on all the right wing radio shows. We have a very strong military and a good record at taking care of business and we don't need to have rampant hatred in our general population.
There were many dark skinned people who could pass for middle easterners who were latino or other people of color and they were scared to go outside. This is America. Only bad people should be scared.
This is not political correctness but decency towards all of our countrymen. I think it's a BIG issue and this was a great post.
This is just as unpatriotic as defaming the flag. It's ILLEGAL to lynch someone. PERIOD! Private Ibber - 3 years ago

a non-story . lynching was done to anyone in the "old west" , cattle thieves , cowboys who'd killed somebody , etc. - there wasn't enough "lawmen " to go around , and many were corrupt anyhow . it's american history 101 .

Never heard of him, sounds pretty dumb though, all music today is controlled by rich record executives anyway, the more controversy, the more ho's being slapped means more money for them.Is this douche bag the guy they had on the simpsons singing, "If you don't buy my album, Al Qaeda wins." ??
