Isaac Hayes dies

A great voice, a great composer, etc. An all around great man. I had the opportunity to talk to him in Big Star the grocery store when I first moved to Marietta, GA 21 years ago. Asked to bring back his original sound, said it was very expensive and synthesizers were being used. Invited me to a show. Very kind approachable gentleman, A REAL MAN. To his family, my prayers are with you. Surely, he's making music in HEAVEN.

Damnit this year is bringing nothing but the death of greats. I'll miss Isaac Hayes for everything he's ever done, what a great guy...

shaft was a great part of my youth years in the early to late 70's....shaft delivered his point with out being graftic....he left room for you to use your mind..just as he used his...R.I.P. mr hayes..we loved you..but god loved you more......

He made being Black cool & successful in 1971, winning both an Oscar & Grammy for his iconic #1 hit, Theme From SHAFT, which still plays just as raw & sweet today. With so many influential achievements & another great musician taken too soon, just RIP Isaac.

He helped launch STAX Records into the stratosphere with his works. Much like The Beatles, album formats were taken far more seriously because of his contributions.

I hate you a little bit.

This is tragic, no more chef! I didn't know Isaac Hayes for his music, just his character on South Park, and his wacky religion, but he seemed like a pretty cool guy.

He made the seventies sound better...he will be missed. RIP.

Last night (Saturday 9 August) I was thinking about the best concerts that I'd been to and the best single performance .........Isaac Hayes version of "Aint No Sunshine" in London in the 70s, Amazinfg saxophone. I spent an hour or two looking at Albums and looking for downloads of his music and thinking that I should update my collection. Then today I hear of his death. This is tragic .I wonder what made me think of him suddenly. Ain' t no sunshine when he's gone"

Truly one of the most influential people responsible for at lot of great soul music of the sixties. I was in Memphis this past Feb. and visited the Stax Museum were his custom Cadillac is a permanent fixture.
