Interesting, but the real nod to the mashing of cumbia rhythms, in my opinion, goes to an artist by the name of Samim. His track "Heater" was released back in '07. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NZ806mlFoMY

@sillei: Big UP to NORTEC COLLECTIVE - the Fix should do a piece on them.... they often play with live instruments and have a visualist that does awesome stuff. Here's a smattering of one of their sets in Germany.

Do they do weddings? Sounds like the kind of music I would play at mine - latin rhythms to get my family on the dance floor, blended with hip-hop and dance music to get the younger crowd going. That's a party!
