A schoolboy, reportedly dressed as the band's drummer Joey Jordison, stabbed a fellow pupil to death with a sword and then attacked and wounded two gardeners at Nic Diederichs Technical High School in Krugersdorp on Monday morning. Fellow students tell cops the unnamed boy was mimicking the rocker's appearance, and that he had claimed Satan instructed him to carry out the attacks.
Jacob Raboroko, from Johannesburg police, tells News24.com, "It's not the first time the band has been accused of influencing criminal acts. In 2003 two young killers claimed lyrics from the band's song Disasterpice drove them to murder, and last year words from the track Surfacing were found at the site of a grave robbing"."
The pic is Joey (No.1) back around "Iwoa" or "Vol. 3 (ironically) Subliminal Verses." The song "Surfacing" is from self-titled.
Hopefully this will not turn like the Manson problem in the 90s. I am a big fan of Slipknot and this is crazy.
If someone dressed like Bush or Obama, would they accused them of being murders? I swear, someone would try there best to find something they say and mix it up.

All the time we get gang killings and noone cares. Slipknot is not saying things like "rob graves!" in their songs. mostly, the lyrics are not about anything. But, we get rap songs talking about Stabbing people, and names of the artists favourite guns and noone gets blamed when people get killed following the life of the rappers. You may think differantly, but i for one am offended that just because a person went on a rampage dressed as joey jordison, they blame slipknot.

This kind of thing is cyclical. I guess Slipknot has finally gotten to the point of being universally popular. Ozzy went through, Judas Priest, then Manson, now Slipknot.
I'm waiting for someone to blame Michael Jackson or the Backstreet Boys... - 3 years ago

That's a bag of woo! Slipknot had nothing to do with this! Just because the kid was in love with the band and wanted some attention, doesn't mean you go and blame Slipknot! I think what needs to be done is apollogies to the band. The boy needs to undergo some mental therapy and be put in an asylum!

If you murder someone I think there is more than a song taking place in your mind. Please, let us not have a rehash of the 1980's here when everything was considered either too sexy, demonic, or suggestive, even John Denver's song, 'Rocky Mountain High' of all things. I'm not a fan of metal music but my son listens to it occassionally... He has never had a tendency to murder anyone and knows it is only music and entertainment. Perhaps more parents should instill that in their children instead of transferring their own inhibitions and psychoses on them. Stop using music as a scapegoat to getting to the underlying societal problems involved in such actions.

It's just music. Leave it alone. Besides, it's not anywhere near as violent as some of the movies out there. Don't trade free speech for security. Ben Franklin said that anyone who does deserves niether one.

I hate slipknot almost as much as I hate the Insane Clown Posse. All through high school I never met one kid wearing their t-shirts that didn't look like a druggy or a thug. Thank god I'm in college now and those kids are working at Burger King.

I won't make any excuses for ICP but I listened to Slipknot when I was in High School and now I have a PHd in neuroscience. And to celebrate someone's life taking a negative swing reflects poorly on you as just being vindictive. So yeah, enjoy all that backed up anger. I'm sure it'll turn you into a wonderful drunk one day.

About ICP: A friend of mine is a juggalo (ICP fan) and he's about the least thuggish/druggish I can think of. Sure he's a warezman and he talks like he has a particularly profane form of tourettes, but hey. Way to alienate a lot of people.

Hehe, my X-boyfriend was in love with both of those bands! But he looked more like a punk than a thug. I hate them too. I'm more of a My chemical Romance type. And I'm glad you are away from those types of people. :)

you cannot blame a band for what someone did, just becasue they said that someone told them to do it, does not mean that they did not have the final say, a person has to choose what to do for themself, not one can choose it for them

Just another scapegoat to explain psychotic behavior. Let's take the number of slipknot fans who have killed someone and compare them to the number who hasn't- What do you know? Most people can listen to music without going apeshit!
